Consuelo was born in Manzanillo, Cuba and she attended the University of Havana, where she obtained a degree in medicine and a second degree as a Pediatrics specialist. After coming to the U.S. in 1999, she participated in the Community Health Program and graduated in the Class of 2002. Consuelo started the Asthma Program of Esperanza and has worked in the Healthy Breathing Program since its founding in late 2013.
